The Wirral Golf Classic, a 72 hole Stableford competition for amateurs, will be played over Royal Liverpool, Caldy, Heswall and Wallasey golf courses, over the period 23-27 September, with 1 rest day for all during the 5 day period.
Age - Players must be 18 years and older.
Handicap – The maximum permitted handicap for competitors is 24 for men and 36 for ladies. However, the maximum number of strokes given will be 18 for men and 27 for ladies, per round. All must be members of a recognised golf club, or affiliated to their country’s governing body, and must present a current & active handicap certificate from their club on arrival (in accordance with CONGU Handicapping System).
Format - The main competition is an aggregate Stableford with prizes for the top 20 players over four rounds but there will also be daily competitions. There will be separate prizes for women. There will also be a team competition - Each player must enter individually but a team can be nominated at the time of entry. However, there will be a draw for markers and times, as players may not play in their teams.
Entry fees- £229 per person, early bird price, until 1 May, thereafter at £239. Cancellations made by 1 May 2013 will be given a full refund; by 1 September 2013 will be given a 50% refund, and after this date no refund can be given.
Prizes – Prizewinners must attend the Prize giving on the final night of the tournament to receive their prize, as prizes cannot to sent on.
Social Events – All competitors are invited to attend a Welcome Drink Reception will be held at the Thornton Hall Hotel on Monday 23 September and the Prize Giving & Drinks Reception.
Motorised buggies - are permitted for use by those who have a medical certificate stipulating the need for a buggy. NB They are not available to hire at all WGC courses. For further clarification please contact the Event Organisers.
Priority for those from outside of the region – The event aims to attract golfers from outside of the region to stay and eat in the area, hence the support for this tourist initiative from the European Regional Development Fund. Therefore priority will be given to those who live beyond 50 miles from the Wirral.
